Today's Internet service providers need high-speed solutions which can be quickly and cost-effectively deployed across wide geographic areas to reach the most possible customers. Fixed broadband wireless access products from Trango enable Internet service providers to deliver broadband access for a surprisingly low cost of deployment and a high return on investment (ROI).
A WISP is a Wireless Internet Service Provider. WISPs offer broadband Internet access services to business and residential customers utilizing radio-based wireless point-to-multipoint networks. Many WISPs operate hybrid networks which consist of both wired and wireless Internet access infrastructure. Through wireless deployments, traditional wired ISPs can not only enlarge their network footprint (coverage areas), but also greatly expand their service offerings and increase their bottom line profit.
Most WISPs utilize wireless equipment which operates in the license-exempt spectrum (900 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) to deliver "last mile" access. With the right equipment, a WISP can enjoy quick ROI while offering their customers very dependable, high speed, always-on, Broadband Internet Access service.
Many WISPs around the world have enjoyed great success due to the low entry, low deployment, and low maintenance costs of fixed broadband wireless "last mile" solutions. Building a wireless network infrastructure involves less equipment and less maintenance than traditional cable and fiber providers.
Trango's Access5830™ solution has been the key wireless infrastructure component for many WISPs throughout the world.
Compared to the leased-line world of wired infrastructure - Wireless ISPs enjoy many advantages:
A Broadband Wireless Access radio network consists of base stations (or Access Points) and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) radios, aka Subscriber Units (SU). The Access Points (APs) are typically mounted on towers or tall buildings since each customer requires line-of-sight (LOS) back to the base station in order to receive service. Each Access Point delivers bandwidth to each subscriber unit (up to 500) within it's 60 service sector. Because the AP is communicating with multiple SUs, it is considered a point-to-multipoint (PmP) network. Point-to-multipoint networks are very cost efficient and easy to manage since Access Points serve as the management portal and their quantities are limited.
Trango's Access5830™ has enjoyed great popularity among hundreds of WISPs around the world. The Acces5830's success can be attributed to the fact that it's design was conceived specifically to allow WISPs the ability to quickly, cost-effectively, and reliably deliver high-speed Internet access to large numbers of customers in widely disbursed geographic areas.
The Access5830™ offers higher speeds and longer ranges than competing solutions - but equally important is the manageability and scalability of the equipment. Trango solutions exceed in these categories as well.
One important consideration for WISPs is how to deliver the bandwidth to the base station. The preferred method is to distribute the bandwidth through a wireless backhaul or point-to-point link which consists of two radios, one on each end. Trango offers three options for license-exempt point-to-point wireless backhaul equipment. The TrangoLINK-45™, is a highly cost-effective wireless Ethernet bridge that delivers 45 Mbps of usable bandwidth up to 45 miles; the Atlas5010™ delivers up to 45 Mbps up to 40 miles; and the TrangoLINK-10™ delivers 10 Mbps up to 40 miles.
